Physician Leadership Bursary Program

Physician Leadership Bursary Program

About

Through the generous support of the Canadian Medical Association (CMA), the NLMA is offering a Physician Leadership Bursary to its members. The bursary provides funding for the purpose of enrollment in multiple physician leadership and professional development opportunities that are aligned with the NLMA’s mission and values. The program began in fall 2021 and will end December 31, 2024.

The goal of the program is to provide NLMA members with the tools and techniques to be more effective leaders in their community, their organizations, their association, their province, and their profession. Given the role all physicians have in leading improvements to provincial health care services, we encourage you to apply for this professional leadership development opportunity.

Successful bursary applicants will receive up to 90 per cent of the direct tuition/registration costs for the programs they enroll in. Continuing medical education programs are not eligible for support under the Physician Leadership Bursary Program.

Eligibility

The bursary is available to practising NLMA members. To ensure diversity of representation, the bursary will support current and emerging physician leaders at all levels of their career (new, mid-career and late-career), as well as amplify opportunities for women, new graduates, IMGs, and members from Indigenous, Black, Latinx, and Asian Pacific communities.

Criteria

Please review the bursary program criteria before completing the application form. The bursary will fund registration fees only (travel, accommodation, and stipends are excluded) for leadership education (board management and governance, communications, administration, human resources etc). The bursary will cover 90 per cent of eligible fees up to a maximum of $10,000.00 CME programs are not eligible for funding by this bursary.
