President’s Tour
Every year, the NLMA meets with physicians as part of the President’s Tour to provide members with an opportunity to share their thoughts and raise any region-specific issues for discussion. Learners are also welcome to attend.
The NLMA President’s Tour provides members throughout the province with an
opportunity to:
- Meet their current NLMA President as well as the Executive Director of the Association
- Receive an update on the work of the NLMA
- Discuss priority issues for the Association
- Identify member questions or concerns
- Network with colleagues in your local branch (including surrounding communities)
All members, including learners, are welcome and encouraged to attend this annual opportunity.
Dr. David L. Metcalfe MD, CCFP
Dr. David Metcalfe is a family physician, born and raised in Newfoundland and Labrador.
Dr. Metcalfe currently works in both community family medicine and in long-term care where he provides care to inpatients with a diagnosis of dementia. He is also a Clinical Assistant Professor of Family Medicine at Memorial University of Newfoundland and
Labrador.
On June 6, 2026, Dr. Metcalfe was installed as the 101st President of the NLMA. During his term, he intends to focus on member engagement and will advocate strongly for the needs and concerns of the incredible physicians of Newfoundland and Labrador.
