Requirements
Physicians licensed by the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Newfoundland and Labrador (Full or Provisional category) are required to join the Newfoundland and Labrador Medical Association (NLMA) as a condition of the Medical Act, 2011. Late payment charges or potential disruptions in your license may apply if you do not.
Categories
No, because of the challenge in defining and monitoring part-time status, a part-time category is not offered.
Yes, any Practicing category member currently not practicing due to pregnancy, birth or adoption, to a maximum of 18 months from the date of birth or adoption, may qualify for the Parental Leave category.
Yes, any Practicing category member currently not practicing due to health reasons, may qualify for the Sick Leave category.
Yes, any Practicing category member currently on sabbatical may qualify for the Sabbatical category.
You may notify the NLMA at any time of an upcoming or recent category change.
Fees
While changes in your membership category are immediately reflected in your membership record, additional fees for the balance of the year are dependent on the type of change.
Charges
Members must renew by February 15 of each year. Failure to do so will result in a late payment charge of $250.
Not sufficient funds (NSF) payments incur a $50.00/incident charge.
Payments
Payment may be made by American Express, MasterCard, Visa, or Interac e-transfer. Payment by personal/business cheque, debit, or cash is not accepted.
Refunds only apply to the remaining term of your membership from the date of request.
