Free Smoking/Vaping Cessation Program

Free Smoking/Vaping Cessation Program

Do you have patients who smoke or vape? Memorial University offers a free Quit Smoking and Vaping Program through the School of Pharmacy’s Medication Therapy Services Clinic.

Trained pharmacists work one-on-one with clients to help them make a change in their tobacco or vaping behaviours. They follow Canadian treatment guidelines (Centre for Mental Health and Addiction’s CAN-ADAPTT & Vaping Cessation Guidance Resource) to offer best practices for smoking and vaping cessation, including quit medication and behavioural support.

They do not offer free medication, but can provide prescriptions for all quit medications and will follow up to ensure adherence, efficacy and safety. They also help clients identify and manage triggers, nicotine withdrawal and cravings as part of a comprehensive quit plan. The program generally lasts 12 weeks, but clients may stay for longer periods if they need additional support. Click below to read more and access the referral form, or call (709) 864-2274.
