FFS Physicians: COVID-19 immunization Fee Codes

The Department of Health and Community Services today announced the availability of the Pfizer Bivalent vaccine in Newfoundland and Labrador, for individuals 12 years of age and older, to be effective October 28, 2022.

The Pfizer bivalent vaccine protects against the original and BA.4/BA.5 Omicron variants of COVID-19. Newfoundland and Labrador anticipates receiving an adequate supply of both bivalent vaccines to offer to all individuals eligible to receive it. Individuals will be encouraged to receive their booster dose 20 weeks from their last vaccine dose and 3 months from COVID-19 infection.

The 13.31% increase currently applied to Family Medicine fee codes will also apply to the fees listed in the October 21, 2022, MCP Newsletter.

For Med Access users: completion of the COVID-19 Immunization Response template available within Med Access is the only acceptable method of documenting COVID-19 immunization. For non-Med Access users: an EMR “light” solution has been created by the Newfoundland and Labrador Centre for Health Information (NLCHI). Education on how to use this solution will be made available and support will be provided by NLCHI. Please email [email protected] for further information.
