CorCare Link Update
Discussions Ongoing with NLHS on CorCare Link Access Site Agreement
The NLMA met with NLHS officials on Monday to discuss the latest iteration of the CorCare Link Access Site Agreement for community-based physicians. NLMA also shared the advice from the NLMA’s external legal counsel and the CMPA. NLHS has introduced several revisions to the Agreement in response to the NLMA’s outstanding concerns. These changes are currently under review by the NLMA’s legal counsel. The NLMA also remains in active discussion with NLHS on a daily basis on issues in the Agreement related to ownership of the record and the indemnity clause. NLHS and the NLMA are meeting today, Thursday April 9, to discuss these specific clauses.
CorCare Link will not be mandatory at Go-Live
The NLMA wrote to NLHS CEO Ron Johnson seeking written clarification on whether the use of CorCare Link will be mandatory at go‑live. Mr. Johnson confirmed the following:
CorCare Link will not be mandatory at Go-Live. NLHS has set a window to transition people to the new system but there is no end date. NLHS will accept referrals as it does now and will not refuse anyone. There will be no delays other than time necessary to process the referral.
Compensation for CorCare Training
The NLMA has carefully reviewed Government’s response to our CorCare compensation proposal. While we acknowledge that Government made some movement from its original position, the response received does not adequately reflect the realities physicians are facing. In NLMA’s view, the current offer falls short in recognizing the significant time commitment, practice disruption, and financial impact CorCare will impose on physicians. While funding for CorCare compensation is not part of a negotiated agreement between the NLMA and Government, the Association has submitted a formal counterproposal to the Department of Health and Community Services to address these shortcomings. Inadequate support risks undermining physician readiness and engagement, and ultimately the successful implementation of CorCare itself. We are currently awaiting a formal response.
The NLMA has also reiterated that Government has not yet responded to our proposal addressing workload disruption and productivity loss following the April 25 go‑live date, which remains a significant unresolved concern. Physicians must not be expected to absorb unpaid workload and income loss, particularly in the context of ongoing recruitment and retention challenges. NLMA continues to engage with Government to push for a fair and realistic approach that reflects the scale of this system transformation, and the essential role physicians play in its success.
