CorCare Link Access: Key Information for Physicians
As part of preparing for the launch of CorCare Link, the NLMA is advising physicians to take several proactive steps ahead of the April 25, 2026, go-live date. These actions are summarized below, followed by a more detailed explanation.
Summary of actions required for physicians using CorCare Link:
- Register for CorCare Link by April 6, 2026, by following instructions emailed by NLHS.
- Complete registration by April 6 to ensure access by the April 25, 2026, launch.
- Review and sign the CorCare Link Site Agreement required for registration.
- Review the liability, indemnification, insurance, and privacy‑related provisions.
- Ensure your existing insurance coverage extends to CorCare Link–related activities. Contact your insurer or broker if unsure.
- Understand your clinic’s responsibilities in the event of a privacy or security breach involving CorCare Link.
- Review clinic‑level operational guidance when provided by NLHS.
- Complete the required Oath of Confidentiality.
The NLMA has reviewed the new CorCare Link Access Site Agreement that NLHS sent this week to physicians who will be using CorCare Link.
NLHS will launch Phase One of CorCare on April 25, 2026. Physicians working in NLHS facilities will access CorCare through Hyperspace. Most physicians practising outside NLHS facilities will use CorCare Link, a secure web portal, to view patient information and to submit certain requisitions, eConsults, and referrals to clinicians within NLHS facilities.
To ensure access to CorCare Link by April 25, physicians must register with NLHS by following the steps outlined in the NLHS email titled “Welcome to CorCare Link – Let’s Get You Connected!”. NLHS has asked that all registrations and account requests be completed by April 6, 2026. A copy of the text from the NLHS email is provided at the end of this email.
As part of the registration process, physicians are required to sign the CorCare Link Site Agreement. NLHS included a summary of the key terms of the Agreement as an attachment to the Welcome to CorCare Link email.
The NLMA consulted with external legal counsel regarding the Agreement. The version provided to physicians reflects many of the recommendations made through that review, though not all suggested changes were incorporated. One provision in Schedule B raised concern, namely that NLHS and Epic may amend the terms of Schedule B at their discretion. That said, the current terms and conditions are generally reasonable, and the NLMA has no reason at this time to believe they will be amended in a manner that would be inappropriate or problematic. While the NLMA has reviewed the Agreement, we cannot guarantee that our review identified every issue that may be relevant to individual practices or clinic arrangements.
Physicians are encouraged to review the liability, indemnification, and insurance provisions of the Agreement and check that existing insurance coverage extends to CorCare Link–related activities, including potential privacy or security incidents, and meets requirements set out in the Agreement. If you are unsure whether your current insurance coverage is sufficient, you should contact your insurer or broker.
Physicians and clinics should also be aware that the Agreement includes obligations in the event of a privacy or security breach involving CorCare Link. These obligations may include notification, cooperation, and mitigation requirements that would fall to the clinic where the breach occurs. Clinics should ensure they understand these responsibilities and how they would be operationalized in the event of an incident. These requirements are similar to the ones you have for breaches within your own clinic, as required by The Personal Health Information Act.
The NLMA is hearing from physicians who are seeking greater clarity on clinic‑level responsibilities under the CorCare Link Site Agreement, particularly in the event of a privacy or security breach. We have raised this with NLHS, and clinic-level operational guidance will be provided as part of their implementation and change‑management support.
Physicians are also required to sign an Oath of Confidentiality, which must be sworn before a Commissioner of Oaths. The signed Oath is retained in your office and produced upon request. The NLMA understands that the Oath does not need to be signed at the same time as the CorCare Link Site Agreement, and we have requested additional information from NLHS regarding how access to a Commissioner of Oaths will be facilitated for physicians across the province who are required to complete this step.
The NLMA will continue to engage with NLHS on these issues and will update members as further information becomes available.
