Background:
In 2025, the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Newfoundland and Labrador (College) initiated a project titled: An Evaluation of Opportunity and Options for a Collaborative Orientation Program for Physicians New to the Newfoundland and Labrador Health System. This project utilized an Advisory Committee which included The College, Newfoundland and Labrador Health Services (NLHS), the Newfoundland and Labrador Medical Association (NLMA), the Ministry of Health and Community Services (HCS), and Memorial University, Faculty of Medicine (MUN). Under continued College leadership, there is stakeholder agreement to move forward with the planning and development of such a program. The Advisory Committee is now moving to a program Steering Committee role and is seeking to add internationally trained physician(s) to its membership.
