About
Through the generous support of the Canadian Medical Association (CMA), the NLMA is offering a Physician Leadership Bursary to our members. The bursary provides funding for the purpose of enrollment in multiple physician leadership and professional development opportunities that are aligned with the NLMA’s mission and values. Successful bursary applicants will receive up to 90 per cent of the direct tuition/registration costs for the programs they enroll in.
The goal of the program is to provide NLMA members with the tools and techniques to be more impactful leaders in their community, their organizations, their province, their association and the profession.
The CMA has contributed $100,000 to fund this initiative for a one-year term with the possibility of renewal every year up to three years.
Bursary applications for the fall 2021 session (October 22, 2021 to January 31, 2022) will be accepted until September 17, 2021.
Eligibility
The bursary is avialable to practicing NLMA members. To ensure diversity of representation, the bursary will support current and emerging physician leaders at all levels of their career (new, mid-career and late career), as well as amplify opportunities for women, new graduates, IMGs, and members from Indigenous, Black, Latinx, and Asian Pacific communities.
Criteria
Please review the bursary program criteria before completing the application form.
NLMA Criteria: Competencies and Programs
How to Apply
The application cycle is three times a year (Fall, Winter, Spring). Only NLMA members can apply for the bursary.
To apply, please complete the NLMA Bursary Application Form. Bursary applications received after the deadline will not be accepted.
Applying for a bursary does not guarantee acceptance, as we may have greater numbers of applicants than available bursary funds.
Receipt of Bursary
Payment of the bursary will be issued on submission of the completed registration and payment forms for the proposed course. The bursary is not intended to pay the full costs of the program of study proposed.
Bursaries are considered income for taxation purposes. Social insurance numbers will be required for the release of funds so that appropriate tax forms can be issued.
