Providing Medical Assistance in Dying

Time: 1:00 – 4:00 p.m. (In Person & GoToWebinar Virtual Conference)


Dr. Aaron McKim and Dr. Stefanie Green will lead this workshop on assessing patients and providing MAiD. They will review the eligibility criteria and apply these to a number of case scenarios. Participants will learn how to provide MAiD in the community, and understand the related required reporting requirements.


Upon completion of this workshop, participants will be able to:

1. Explore the topic of MAiD with patients and families

2. Assess patients for MAiD

3. Recognize when social and medical factors may add a complexity

4. Explain and administer the medications

5. Perform a smooth MAiD process with families

6. Apply the federal reporting requirements in their context

7. Demonstrate plan for self-care and ongoing education in this field


*This Group Learning program has been certified by the College of Family Physicians of Canada for up to 9 Mainpro+ credits.
