Buprenorphine/Naloxone Treatment of Addiction Program

Managing opioid addictions is an issue of interest to many family physicians in the province. Drs. Peter Barnes, Stephen Darcy, and Bruce Hollett have partnered with the NLMA to offer an advanced teaching program on subaxone treatment to support competency for this new service. The core education of the program will be offered in a half-day session in four sites in Newfoundland and Labrador. The session considers the unique challenges of physicians in Newfoundland and Labrador who will be actively involved in the provision of subaxone. Following the training, providers and assessors will have access to a toolbox of resources, as well as a network of support throughout the province.

Sessions begin at 8:30 a.m. and will be held in Grand Falls-Windsor (April 20), Corner Brook (May 5), St. John's (May 12), and Happy Valley-Goose Bay (June 30).

Registrants and interested participants will find the following resources useful for advance preparation.
